Leeds Opera Festival 2022
August Bank Holiday 2022
Exploring the theme of POWER - stretching from political, to patriarchal, to climate and energy - the 2022 Festival will feature a headline production of George Frideric Handel's Silla, alongside a significant programme of performances, talks, workshops and events across Leeds.
David Ward, Artistic Director - "Handel's Silla will provide the springboard for a very busy, eclectic and entertaining 2022 Festival. Telling a hugely resonant story of a populist leader abusing his position, it's a terrific combination of glorious Handel arias at a 2 hour running time (!). We've some really exciting additional plans that will include touring across the city, complementary but stylistically very different additional productions, and a major climate and opera focused event"
More details to be announced over the coming months.
