Composer/Musical Director/Music Producer/DJ
Are you one, or all, of the above?
We’re looking for someone with a love of classical and electronic dance music to join the team and work with Guest Artistic Director, Emma Hill, on Opera Rave for Leeds Opera Festival 2024. We’ll be exploring the opera of Carmen – doing prep work and then taking a week’s R&D time to meld electronic, rave-influenced beats and Bizet’s beautiful and beloved score.
During the R&D week (27 to 31 August 2024), we’ll invite audiences to see our work-in-progress in person and online and also stage a final public performance.
For this role, we are looking for someone who is:

Creatively open and bold, comfortable taking risks and sharing work-in-progress

A skilled composer and/or music producer who can create work in the room

Interested in both opera and electronic dance music

Loves being part of a collaborative and inclusive artistic team

Excited by the possibilities of the Opera Rave project

Fully available for R&D (27 to 31 August) and for prep work and meetings beforehand
Ideally, you will be based within daily commutable distance of Leeds and can conduct and coach our singers, but we can find other solutions to both these criteria, so please apply if the project excites you and you can offer the above attributes, knowledge and skills.
