2017 Programme

The theme of our inaugural Festival is 'Great British Opera' - What is British opera? What are its distinctive characteristics? Where did it come from, and where is it going?

With our new production of Thomas Arne's 'Alfred' at the heart of the Festival (29 & 30 August), we'll be exploring these ideas with artists and audiences from across the UK.

We're delighted to be joined by Aspect Opera, who will bring their new production of Britten's 'Albert Herring' to Left Bank on Thursday 31 August.

Across the three days, you'll find an interactive talk on 'The First English Operas', an exploration of three original scores of 'Alfred' (in association with the University of Leeds), and many other events - all of which are free to attend.
