Sarah Gilford is a British soprano who received a First Class Bachelor of Music from the Royal Northern College of Music. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the Amanda Roocroft Award, SGYFM Adult Song Recital Prize, the Bessie Cronshaw/Frost Brownson Song Cycle Prize and the Freckleton and Doherty Cup for Singing.
Sarah has performed regularly as a soloist for Oratorios, concerts and recitals. She has recently performed Mozart’s Vespers K339 Confessore, Haydn's Nelson Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria, Berlioz’s Les nuits d’ete and Mozart's Coronation Mass. One of Sarah’s concert highlights includes performing a UK premiere of Gatti’s Requiem in C with the Manchester Camerata. She has also been a guest soloist for Pendyrus Male Voice Choir and Chepstow Male Voice Choir.
Sarah has worked with WNYO, RNCM Opera, Northern Opera Group, Brasil Academia de Opera Barroca, Woodhouse Opera and Edinburgh Studio Opera. Her roles have included Johanna in Sweeney Todd, Police Woman in The Sleeper, Dancing Lidochka in Cheryomushki, Dorabella in Così fan tutte, Hero in Much Ado About Nothing, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro and a UK and South American premiere as Cleopatra in Hasse’s Marc’Antonio e Cleopatra. Later this year, Sarah will perform the role of Papagena for Longborough Festival Opera’s production of The Magic Flute.
Sarah is thrilled to have accepted a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music later this year under the tutelage of Lillian Watson.
