Opera Ballads
We'll be touring Leeds bringing 18th century English ballad opera back to the venues where they were first performed in the city - pubs and public spaces!
In the early years of opera in Leeds, troupes of actors would pitch-up on city centre streets, or in large rooms in taverns, to bring audiences the latest theatrical and operatic entertaiment.
This tour will feature tunes from some of the earliest and most popular English operas - including Love in a Village, The Beggar's Opera, and The Duenna.
Featuring baritone Neil Balfour, and violinist Chloe Hayward.
